Kentucky women’s basketball (15-1) has won eight straight games and is 4-0 to start SEC play for the first time since 2012-13. The rest of the country is finally paying attention to what Kenny Brooks is cooking in Lexington.

In ESPN’s latest Bracketology, which was updated this past Friday, the Wildcats moved up another seed line. Kentucky is now up to a 3-seed in Charlie Creme’s 2025 NCAA Tournament projections. Creme calls for a first-round matchup against 14-seed Charleston. As a top-four seed, Kentucky would host the first two rounds at Memorial Coliseum. An opening round win would push UK into a Round of 32 matchup against the winner of 6-seed NC State and 11-seed Ball State.

Less than two weeks ago, Kentucky was considered a 7-seed in Creme’s Bracketology. A handful of huge SEC wins have since boosted the Wildcats’ resume. This update doesn’t even include Kentucky’s most recent 80-61 win at home on Sunday over the Auburn Tigers.

Kentucky is one of 10 SEC teams currently in Creme’s projected tournament field. The Wildcats join South Carolina (1-seed), LSU (2), Texas (2), Tennessee (4), Oklahoma (4), Alabama (5), Ole Miss (7), Vanderbilt (8), and Mississippi State (8). UK has already beaten Vanderbilt and Mississippi State but still has to play the remaining seven SEC teams mentioned.

It’s been about as perfect a start to the Brooks era as the Big Blue Nation could have asked for. Kentucky is 15-1 on the season with the lone loss of the season coming on the road to North Carolina, which was tabbed as a 5-seed by Creme. UK is 10-0 at home to begin the season, which is the program’s best start at Memorial since starting 11-0 in 2018-19.

Kentucky will take the next week off to rest before diving right back into the SEC schedule. Up next is a road game against Georgia on Sunday, Jan. 19 at 2:00 p.m. EST on the SEC Network+.
