Riding a six-game winning streak, Kentucky Women’s Basketball has put itself in prime position to make a postseason run.

But if the Wildcats want to solidify its spot in the upcoming 2022 NCAA Tournament, it might need to win at least one game in this week’s SEC Tournament. After taking care of Auburn 90-62 during Rhyne Howard Day on Sunday, Kentucky cemented its status as a seven-seed in the conference portion of the postseason. UK will take on 10-seeded Mississippi State, which the ‘Cats beat earlier this season thanks to a historic comeback.

Kentucky and Mississippi State will go head-to-head this Thursday, March 3 at 7:00 p.m. EST at Bridgestone Arena down in Nashville, TN. The game will be broadcast on the SEC Network. If UK were to beat the Bulldogs, the ‘Cats will face two-seeded LSU at 7:00 p.m. EST on Friday, March 4.

Looking ahead to the NCAA Tournament, Kentucky might have already done enough in the regular season to solidify its spot. Now healthy and playing with its expected roster, ESPN’s Charlie Creme has continued to move UK up in his Bracketology projections over the last week or two.

During his Monday morning update, Creme has the ‘Cats “on the bubble” as one of the last “Last Four Byes” to earn a spot. Kentucky is placed in the South Bend region as a 12-seed where it would play five-seeded Indiana. UK and IU played during the beginning of the season up in Bloomington when the Hoosiers were ranked No. 8 in the country. Indiana handily won that outing by a final score of 88-67.

But Kentucky is a much different team now than it was in November. Don’t count out the ‘Cats just yet.
