Kentucky WBB freshman forward Janae Walker enters the transfer portal
Wednesday morning, the Kentucky women’s basketball program lost a second player to the portal (third if you count Zennia Thomas) as freshman forward Janae Walker announced that she will be entering her name into the transfer portal.
“I would like to thank God and the coaches at the University of Kentucky for the opportunity to be a part of the women’s basketball program,” Walker said in her announcement. “My time there will never be forgotten. With that being said, I will be entering the transfer portal with 3 years of eligibility remaining. I’m excited for the new opportunities that come in this process. Thanks again, BBN.”
Walker originally committed to Kentucky after reopening her recruitment after being pledged to Gardner-Webb. Then, she ended up picking Kyra Elzy and the ‘Cats over USC, Wisconsin, and Syracuse.

The 6-4 freshman appeared in 28 games this season, averaging 0.9 points and 1.3 rebounds per game in 7.6 minutes per game. Walker was a much-needed depth piece for much of last season, playing behind Ajae Petty, who also entered the portal this week.
However, the roster continues to thin out as Kentucky looks for its next head coach to replace Kyra Elzy.
