Kentucky WBB freshman Jordy Griggs enters transfer portal
Make that seven Kentucky women’s basketball players currently in the portal.
Freshman guard Jordy Griggs entered her name into the transfer portal on Thursday, KSR has learned. The 6-foot-2 native of California appeared in four games during the 2023-24 season for the Wildcats, averaging 0.8 points and 0.3 rebounds in 3.5 minutes per contest.
Griggs joins Ajae Petty, Maddie Scherr, Eniya Russell, Zennia Thomas, Nyah Leveretter, and Janae Walker as Kentucky players to go into the portal this offseason. Griggs is the first to do so since the hiring of new head coach Kenny Brooks, who was officially introduced last Thursday. She was initially expected to stick around for a sophomore season, but that is no longer the case following the hiring of Brooks.
Out of high school playing for Montverde Academy (FL), Griggs was rated as a four-star recruit by ESPN. She chose Kentucky over several Power 5 offers. However, she saw limited playing time as a freshman in Lexington and will now search for a new home in the offseason.

With Griggs in the portal, Kentucky now has just four players from last season’s 2023-24 squad still on the roster: Brooklynn Miles, Saniah Tyler, Cassidy Rowe, and Amiya Jenkins.
Coach Brooks is expected to overhaul the roster for his Kentucky debut in 2024-25. A couple of his former Virginia Tech players, All-American Georgia Amoore and 6-foot-5 sophomore Clara Strack, have recently gone into the portal with “do no contact” tags.
Significant changes are coming to Kentucky WBB.
