Kentucky WBB guard Lexi Blue is the prototypical Kenny Brooks player
If you take a quick glance at Kentucky’s roster and who all Kenny Brooks is recruiting, you may notice there’s a glaring similarity there across the board. For the most part, Brooks wants to be the bigger team. Obviously, skill and talent is something he and the staff look for on the recruiting trail, but so is size.
Kentucky has a ton of size, especially in the post with Clara Silva (6-foot-7) and Clara Strack (6-foot-6). However, the ‘Cats are big at the wing positions as well, and if any of those wings are the perfect model of the type of player you’re going to see at Kentucky from now on, it’s Lexi Blue.
Being 6-foot-1, Blue has that size that Brooks wants of his twos and threes, but she is also an incredible all-around player in general. In her edition of KSR’s Film Room series, we noted just how well she can shoot the ball, but on top of that, her length allows her to be versatile on the defensive end of the floor as well.
If you were to try narrowing down the main qualities that Brooks and his staff want in a player, it’s size and length, being a consistent perimeter shooter, being able to guard multiple positions defensively, and getting up and down the floor in transition.

Of course, Blue does all of that and more.
So, when you see Blue and what she does on the court this season, just know that is going to become the norm at Kentucky. As a Top 40 prospect, she is going to come in and be an immediate contributor on this team, and she is going to bring all of those qualities that we just discussed about Brooks wanting.
In previous years and really in the last few seasons, lacking size and talent have been the two main issues for the ‘Cats, but that should be no more under Brooks.
