Being a Division I athlete requires two main things: a lot of talent and a lot of hard work to go with it. Of course, the more talent the better, but hard work is something that is irreplaceable. Thankfully for Kenny Brooks and Kenucky, there’s a healthy mix of both on this team.

Cassidy Rowe in particular is the epitome of hard work, going through two ACL tears to eventually play for her home-state ‘Cats. As a junior and one of two returners, Rowe has been tasked with being a leader on and off the court.

She’s constantly in the gym, and in the past, it may have just been her working on her craft a lot of the time. However, in this new culture where effort is priority number one, Rowe usually has some company during her workouts aside from the organized practices.

“Honestly, very rarely do I come into the gym and not run into somebody else,” Rowe said during Kentucky’s summer Media Day. “Last night, I came in and Teonni [Key] was working. Saniah [Tyler]‘s always in the gym working, but it’s really everybody.

She added, “It’s really exciting for me because you can tell everybody wants to get better and wants to do good for this team. So, it’s exciting.”
