Welcome in to the final edition of this five-part series, the KSR Kentucky Women’s Basketball Position Preview series. The name is self-explanatory. We take a look at each of the five positions on the court and assess how the 2024-25 ‘Cats fare at each spot.

To wrap things up, we take a look at the center position. Unless Kenny Brooks is forced to play small-ball due to foul trouble or injuries, Clara Silva and Clara Strack are going to be the ones to fill the five. Both bring a unique skill set to the team, and both are going to be invaluable this season, especially in once SEC play rolls around.

The Clara and Clara Duo

While playing behind Virginia Tech legend Elizabeth Kitley, Clara Strack was able to sit back and develop as she prepared for the day her number would be called. In the NCAA Tournament, Strack had to step up due to an ACL injury that Kitley suffered, and she delivered.

In two games, the 6-foot-6 center averaged 17.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocks blocks per game. Now that she’s at Kentucky, she is expected to be a one of the leaders on the team despite just being a sophomore.

Strack will most likely be the starter due to her in-game experience, but she’ll have an absolute star backing her up in Clara Silva.

Silva’s commitment to Kentucky sent shock waves not only across the college basketball landscape, but across the world. Silva is almost certainly the best international prospect in her class, and ESPN even noted that she’d be a Top 10 recruit if she played in the U.S.

Brooks really can’t go wrong at the five, and for the first time in a very, very long time, Kentucky is going to have some SEC size in its front court.
