Kentucky WBB ranked No. 15 in AP Poll following win over Louisville

In the last AP Poll, Kentucky came in at No. 20 after handling business in the opening week of the season. However, after coming out on stop in an overtime thriller against Louisville, Kentucky is ranked No. 15 in the latest AP Poll.

There are seven total SEC teams ranked, with Kentucky being the 5th-highest among those teams. South Carolina (1), Texas (4), LSU (7) and Oklahoma (9) rank ahead of the Cats. Alabama (24) is nine sports behind Kenny Brooks‘ program.

Since the last poll, Kentucky downed Wofford, beating the Terriers 76-42. The Cats came out hot in that one, but so did Dazia Lawrence specifically. The Charlotte transfer guard put up 15 first quarter points, and ended the night with 19 points on 6-9 (4-6 3PT) shooting. Clara Strack impressed again with 16 points, 15 rebounds, five assists and four blocks in 31 minutes of play.

However, the reason for Kentucky’s rise in the poll was the win over then No. 18 Louisville. Georgia Amoore quite literally gave everything she had, playing in all 45 minutes of the game. She had a game-high 19 points as well as nine assists and two steals against the Cardinals.

Kentucky is now 4-0 and the No. 15 team in the country. They’ll look to maintain their perfection against Purdue Fort Wayne at 6 p.m. EST on SEC Network+.
