As we edge closer to the season, recruiting starts to slow down just a bit, but even thing, some significant things are still taking place throughout the week.

Firstly, the Kentucky staff was in Rock Hill, South Carolina to watch class of 2026 five-star guard Kate Harpring last weekend. UConn, Duke and Louisville were among the many other schools in attendance.

Her stock only continues to rise as she just added offers from USC, Oregon, Indiana, Tennessee and several others all in the last couple of weeks. That of course means her recruitment is pretty wide open to this point, so it’ll be interesting to see how competitive Kenny Brooks and the staff are in this recruitment.

Then, on Wednesday, 2027 three-star guard Sydney Savoury announced an offer from Brooks and Kentucky. Don’t be too quick to judge the star-rating either. Savoury is consistently among the best performers in every camp she’s in.

Plus, that star-rating could be outdated considering there’s only a Terrific 25 for 2027 so far. If you’re still not sold, just have faith in Brooks. If he wants her, then she’s clearly talented. That’s really the be-all and end-all there.

Ole Miss, UCLA, Louisville and Minnesota are some of the other schools to offer Savoury. Additionally, she has taken visits to UCLA, Duke, and Michigan. The Wolverines are her home-state team, so they’re obviously a team to watch in this recruitment.

However, considering that she’s getting offers from some of the best programs in the country, it would be hard to imagine that Savoury would pass that up.

To round out this update, 2026 five-star forward Olivia Vukosa talked with On3’s Talia Goodman about her recruitment and the top schools pushing for her. Of course, Brooks and the ‘Cats are highly competitive here, but not necessarily because Brooks, but really because of assistant Josh Petersen.

“Coach [Josh] Petersen was at Miami, so I’ve talked to him a lot now that he’s at Kentucky,” Vukosa told Goodman. “I’ve really been talking to him. I try to talk to the other coaches, but talking to him is great. He always picks the conversation right where we left off.”

Perhaps the Josh Petersen hire can land Kentucky one of the best recruits in the entire 2026 class.
