Kentucky WBB rises in AP Poll ahead of SEC Tournament

Kentucky women’s basketball jumped a few spots in the final regular season rankings update.

The AP Top 25 Poll released Monday afternoon slotted the Wildcats at No. 12, a three-spot jump from the previous rankings. Kentucky went 1-1 last week against a pair of ranked opponents, smacking No. 18 Tennessee at home by 24 points before coming up short down the stretch against No. 5 South Carolina on the road. Kenny Brooks finished his first regular season as head coach with a 22-6 record (11-5 SEC).

Looking at the NET rankings, Kentucky is up to No. 19 after another split week. The Wildcats sit on a 5-5 Quad 1 record with a 4-0 mark in Quad 2 games, a 4-1 mark in Quad 3, and a 9-0 mark in Quad 4. ESPN’s latest Bracketology also came out Monday morning, slotting UK as a three-seed in the Spokane Region. A top four seed means they would host the opening two rounds of the NCAA Tournament in Lexington’s Memorial Coliseum.

Kentucky officially locked up a double-bye as the four-seed in the SEC Tournament. Up first will be the winner of Oklahoma vs. Arkansas/Georgia this Friday at approximately 2:30 p.m. EST on ESPN in Greenville, SC.
