Kentucky women’s basketball’s non-conference schedule just got a little bit more daunting. On Monday, Illinois released their non-conference schedule, and it was revealed that the Fighting Illini will take on the ‘Cats on November 27th in the Music City Classic.

ESPN indicates that the game will start at 8:00 p.m. EST on their website.

Last season, Illinois went 19-15 overall and 8-10 in the Big 10. To end their season, the Fighting Illini competed in the Women’s Basketball Invitation Tournament (WBIT), and they ended up winning the whole thing by taking down Villanova 71-57 in the championship game.

Illinois returns eight of their top 10 contributors from a year ago, most notably fifth-year seniors Makira Cook and Kendall Bostic. Last season, Cook averaged a team-high 16.4 points per game and 4.4 assists per game, while Bostic posted 12.1 points and 10.9 rebounds per game.

Kenny Brooks‘ first season at Kentucky is starting off with a bang as the ‘Cats are currently slated to take on four major conference teams prior to SEC play.

Kentucky will play two games in the Music City Classic in Nashville, TN, with the first coming the day prior on the 26th. At this time, the opponent for that game is unknown. However, in a press release from Illinois, we do know that Arizona State, Dayton, and South Dakota are also competing at the Music City Classic. Maryland Eastern Shore will play Illinois on the 26th, so Kentucky gets one of those three other teams in game one.

Additionally, the Trevecca Trojan Fieldhouse, which holds a capacity of 1,500 fans, is where the Music City Classic will take place.

UPDATE: Multiple sources tell KSR that Kentucky will play Arizona State on November 26th in their first game in the Music City Classic.
