Kentucky WBB sophomore guard Amiya Jenkins enters transfer portal
The offseason of change for Kentucky women’s basketball continues.
On Tuesday afternoon, KSR learned that sophomore guard Amiya Jenkins has entered her name into the transfer portal. The 5-foot-10 Jenkins started 17 of 26 games played this past season under former head coach Kyra Elzy, averaging 7.5 points and 3.3 rebounds in 22.6 minutes per outing. She shot 41.1 percent from the field and 32.1 percent from beyond the arc.
Jenkins, who played at Anderson County High School and was the 2022 Miss Kentucky Basketball winner, will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Out of high school, Jenkins chose Kentucky over the likes of Tennessee, Rutgers, Penn State, Virginia Tech, Dayton, Belmont, and others. She appeared in 26 games as a freshman, averaging 3.2 points and 1.3 rebounds in 8.9 minutes per outing before more than doubling her production as a sophomore.
Jenkins is now one of nine Wildcats from the 2023-24 roster to enter the portal this offseason. However, new head coach Kenny Brooks, who came over from Virginia Tech, has already brought a handful of pieces with him to Lexington, namely All-American point guard Georgia Amoore, who followed Brooks from Blacksburg.

Additionally, 6-foot-5 freshman center Clara Strack was announced as a signee for the 2024-25 season on Tuesday. JUCO transfer Amelia Hassett and four-star high school senior Lexi Blue have also flipped from VT to Kentucky for the upcoming season.
Kentucky now has just two remaining pieces from last season’s roster — sophomore guards Saniah Tyler and Cassidy Rowe — along with incoming freshman Tanah Becker, who committed to UK when Elzy was still the head coach.
