Kentucky WBB transfer center Clara Silva commits to TCU

Clara Silva is headed out west to join a fellow former Wildcat.

According to On3’s Talia Goodman, Silva has committed to the TCU Horned Frogs. A 6-foot-7 center, Silva spent her freshman season at Kentucky under first-year head coach Kenny Brooks. The Portugal native saw action in all 31 contests for the Wildcats in 2024-25, posting per-game averages of four points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks in 12.5 minutes on 56.5 percent shooting.

But instead of returning to Lexington, Silva has elected to take her talents to a budding powerhouse in TCU where she’ll play for head coach Mark Campbell. At TCU, Silva will team up alongside one-time Kentucky player Maddie Scherr (2022-24), who sat out the 2024-25 season with the Horned Frogs due to injury.

Silva was seen as a prized recruit on the international scene in her home country of Portugal. Had she been a prospect from the United States, she would have been considered a top 10 recruit in her class. She came to Kentucky with plenty of FIBA experience and was expected to be an important piece for the future of the program. Silva even earned an SEC Freshman of the Week award in November. While not always the most productive, there was plenty of potential.

But just two days after her freshman campaign came to an end, Silva’s name was officially in the portal with a “do not contact” tag. A little over a week after that, she was committed to the Horned Frogs.

Silva is one of six outgoing Kentucky players from this past season’s roster. Junior guard Saniah Tyler and freshman forward Tanah Becker intend to transfer while junior guard Cassidy Rowe is retiring from college basketball. Starting guards Georgia Amoore and Dazia Lawrence have exhausted their college eligibility. Brooks has seven open scholarships he can fill this offseason.
