After sending eight teams to the NCAA Tournament a year ago, which included the SEC Championship-winning Wildcats, the league once again expects to send at least a half-dozen programs to the upcoming postseason. Defending champion South Carolina is the presumed preseason No. 1 overall while Tennessee is a likely top-five team. LSU and Georgia also figure to begin ’22-23 among the national rankings.

As for Kentucky, the ‘Cats are in a bit of a “rebuilding” stage, if you want to call it that. Four key players transferred out, Rhyne Howard is dominating in the WNBA, and 10 newcomers (six freshmen, four transfers) all came into the fold during the offseason. It’s tough to predict right now what the expectations should be for this team come the fall, but they will absolutely be exciting to watch. There is plenty of talent on the roster that should keep them competitive throughout the year.

In other scheduling news, last week Kentucky WBB announced a midseason trip to the Bahamas where they will participate in the 2022 Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Championship. Eight teams will make the trip for the event from Nov. 21-23. Kentucky will open with a game against Virginia Tech, an NCAA Tournament team in 2022, followed by a contest against Dayton, which advanced to the second round of last year’s Big Dance.
