Kentucky WBB's Eniya Russell reportedly enters transfer portal

Following the firing of Kyra Elzy last week, Wildcats have been hitting the transfer portal left and right. Maddie Scherr and Ajae Petty, Kentucky’s two leading scorers from the 2023-24 season, have already entered the portal as grad transfers.
That trend continued on Wednesday afternoon as Eniya Russell reportedly added her name to that list. The 6-1 senior becomes the sixth Kentucky Wildcat to put her name into the transfer portal this offseason.
Talia Goodman of TheNextHoops was first to break the news.
This season, Russell saw her minutes (and ultimately her production) spike as she took a pivotal role on the 2023-24 team. The Baltimore native averaged career highs in points (10.1), rebounds (3.6), and assists (1.5) per game for the ‘Cats.

As Kentucky looks to find its next head coach, the roster continues to get thinner and thinner. Now, Kentucky has lost three of its top four scorers to the transfer portal. Saniah Tyler, who averaged 10.2 points per game last season, is the last player remaining who averaged double-digit points.
Of course, with Russell being a grad transfer, there is always a chance that she decides to withdraw her name from the portal and return to Kentucky once a new head coach is announced. Regardless, there will inevitably be a lot of new faces on the team this winter.
