Following its 5-3 loss to No. 9 Vanderbilt in Saturday’s series finale, Kentucky will officially be the No. 13 seed in the 2025 SEC Baseball Tournament with a 13-17 conference record. It is the lowest SEC Tournament seed earned in the Nick Mingione era.

The ‘Cats will face No. 12 seed Oklahoma in the second game on Tuesday, which will likely begin around 2:30 p.m. EST. They swept the then-No. 17 ranked Sooners last weekend in Lexington.

This year’s Tournament will feature all 16 SEC teams for the first time ever, and every single game will be single elimination.

Since Nick Mingione took over in 2017, Kentucky is 5-9 in the event with its best finish coming in 2022 (SEC Tournament Semifinals).

2025: 13 seed
2024: 3 seed (eliminated in Third Round by No. 10 South Carolina)
2023: 8 seed (eliminated in First Round by No. 9 Alabama)
2022: 12 seed (eliminated in Semifinals by No. 1 Tennessee)
2021: 11 seed (eliminated in First Round by No. 6 Florida)
2019: DNP
2018: 10 seed (eliminated in First Round by No. 7 Auburn)
2017: 3 seed (eliminated in Third Round by No. 11 South Carolina

Kentucky looked to clinch its third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance with just one win at No. 9 Vanderbilt this weekend, but it was swept and held at just 13 conference wins. If the ‘Cats drop their opening game in the Tournament on Tuesday, that would put them at 29-24 (13-17) overall.

Although it should be a safe bet, many around the program and Big Blue Nation may be sweating out the NCAA Tournament Selection Show. In On3’s latest Field of 64 Projections (published before the Vanderbilt series), Kentucky is currently a No. 3 seed in the Corvallis Regional.
