Kentucky Women's Basketball making a new home in Lexington
We’re finally getting to that sweet, sweet point in the offseason where players are moving into what will be their new home for the next 10 months: the University of Kentucky. Many athletes have been there, done that. But others, like almost the entire Kentucky Women’s Basketball roster, have never stepped foot in their new dorms/apartment. Until now.
At this point, Kentucky Women’s Basketball has 10 of its 13 players moved in on campus, with workouts starting sometime next week (fingers crossed). The only three who haven’t moved in yet are Georgia Amoore, Clara Silva, and Dominika Paurová. Amoore (Australia), Silva (Portugal), and Paurová (Czech Republic) are still representing their countries on the international basketball stage and will join the rest once those competitions wrap up.
It’s an exciting time for the ‘Cats. With such a talented roster for the upcoming season, team chemistry is going to be as important as ever. I mean, this is an entirely new roster for most of these girls. Cassidy Rowe and Saniah Tyler are the only two players with true experience in Lexington. Then we have three players from Virginia Tech. The rest of the lot are from schools all over the country or are incoming freshmen. Of course, there will be A LOT of team bonding in the coming weeks.
In fact, the team has already started spending time together. While we’ve seen some sneak peeks of the new Memorial Coliseum on various players’ Instagram stories, we got to see a glimpse of the team on their first public outing” A trip to Lex Live to see a movie. The women’s basketball X/Twitter page even gave us an inside look.

Just take a look at that growing chemistry!
Honestly, going to see a movie isn’t that deep. But I’ll have you know, I spent an unhealthy amount of time trying to figure out what movie they went to see. My conclusion? Inside Out 2. But, that’s beside the point. It’s just exciting to see our newest ‘Cats spending time together off the court.
Even last season, it was very important to former head coach Kyra Elzy that her team bonded without a basketball. It looks like new head coach Kenny Brooks feels the exact same way. Team chemistry can make or break a season, so it’s important to get a head start while you can. In the coming weeks, hopefully, we get to see some more behind-the-scenes of our newest squad in their new home.
