Kentucky WR Ardell Banks enters the Transfer Portal
There’s some more roster movement as Kentucky football enters the second week of the spring football transfer portal window. Less than a year after arriving on campus, On3 has learned wide receiver Ardell Banks is entering the transfer portal.
Ardell Banks was a three-star prospect when he signed with the Wildcats in 2023. A 6-foot-3 outside receiver from Washington Massillon High School in Northeast Ohio, Banks was recruited by Vince Marrow after tallying 43 receptions for 791 yards and 12 touchdowns during his senior season. He chose Kentucky over Cincinnati, Arizona, and Wisconsin, among others.
He was one of four wide receivers signed to Kentucky’s 2023 recruiting class. PRP’s Jakob Dixon was the first of the group to hit the portal, leaving Kentucky after only a few weeks on campus.
Banks had impressive wheels for a big target on the outside, but he could not move his way up the depth chart during spring practice after redshirting last fall. New wide receivers coach Daikiel Shorts inherited a deep position group. Banks is departing before he gets too lost in the shuffle. He’s the third wide receiver to enter the portal this season. Best of luck to him at his next stop.
