Kentucky WR Brandon White will transfer to Hawaii

A former Kentucky pass-catcher has found a new home out west — wayyyy out west.
Redshirt sophomore wide receiver Brandon White will transfer to Hawaii, he announced Saturday afternoon on Instagram. A class of 2022 signee with the Wildcats, the 5-foot-9 speedster saw just six games of action during his three seasons in Lexington. He finished his time at UK without a single reception and just one kick return for 19 yards against Murray State in 2024. The Cincinnati native announced his intentions to enter the portal on Dec. 9.
White, who was heralded as one of the fastest football players in the country out of high school, will have two years of college eligibility remaining with the Rainbow Warriors.
White’s impressive speed (4.28 seconds in the 40-yard dash, per his UK bio) was unfortunately never given a platform at Kentucky. He was redshirted as a freshman in 2022, appeared in four games as a redshirt freshman in 2023, then saw just two games of action as a redshirt sophomore in 2024. White was a consensus three-star recruit out of Archbishop Moeller (OH), choosing UK over the likes of West Virginia, Akron, Bowling Green, and Marshall.
With White heading elsewhere and news of true freshman WR Hardley Gilmore also leaving via the portal, Kentucky’s wide receiver room for 2025 isn’t exactly in great shape. Dane Key and Barion Brown have landed at other SEC schools while Anthony Brown-Stephens is also in the portal.

UK was able to retain Ja’Mori Maclin, add a couple of wide-outs through the portal, and has five high school receivers on the way, but the overall talent and depth aren’t what it needs to be for an SEC team right now. New wide receivers coach L’Damian Washington has his work cut out for him this offseason.
White follows in the path of another former Kentucky wide receiver. Dekel Crowdus started his career at UK before transferring to Hawaii for the 2024 season. Crowdus has once again entered the portal though, putting his name in on Dec. 5.
