Leading the Wildcats with 17 points in the comeback win to give the program its first victory in the event since 2019 and the first against the Blue Devils since 2015, Andrew Carr took home the prestigious award on Monday, the SEC has announced.
The Wake Forest transfer set season highs in both points (17) and rebounds (6) to go with three assists and a block to help bring Kentucky back from down nine at the break, giving the Wildcats their largest halftime comeback win since March 7, 2020 when they rallied from 10 down to beat Florida.
He hit two threes early, but came up particularly big down the stretch, converting an and-one with 3:57 to go to tie the game for the first time since the 8:23 mark in the first half, followed by another to put Kentucky ahead by two with 1:49 remaining — the Cats never trailing again.
