Kentucky's Josh Allen embarrasses the other Josh Allen in Jaguars-Bills
There were multiple instances of Josh Allen on Josh Allen crime during Sunday’s absolute SHOOTOUT between the Bills and Jaguars–all with the Kentucky Josh Allen coming out on top.
Jacksonville won an Alabama vs. LSU-esque barnburner over Buffalo, 9-6, in what wound up as a career-day for former Wildcat defensive end Josh Allen. The Pro Bowler was embarrassing Jaguars quarterback Josh Allen on Sunday, recording an interception AND a recovered fumble against the Bills’ gunslinger.
The UK Josh Allen also finished with eight tackles, one sack, two tackles for loss, one pass deflection, and one quarterback hit. SHEESH. But an even cooler stat? How about the fact that this was the first instance in NFL history where a player recorded a sack on a quarterback with the same full name. The interception was the first time that’s ever happened as well!
According to the NFL’s Next Gen Stats, Allen’s presence on the defensive end of the field added a combined 22 percent win probability for the Jags. It was a major upset victory for Jacksonville too, which is now just 2-6 on the season. Buffalo dropped to 5-3 on the year.

“I’m just looking forward to playing against this team and then looking forward to playing against (the other Josh Allen),” UK’s Allen said after the win about the opposing QB. “He’s been playing at a high level of recent. He’s been evading sacks recently, he’s been getting out of the pocket, his O-line does a really good job of protecting him.”
The Jaguars might not be very good as a whole, but Allen is the real deal on the defensive line. Before Sunday’s performance, the third-year pro was up to 31 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and three pass deflections.
