Kevin Knox reportedly being traded from Pistons to Jazz
The NBA trade deadline is still a little over 24 hours away, but one former Kentucky Wildcat is already on the move.
According to multiple reports, the Detroit Pistons are trading five-year veteran Kevin Knox to the Utah Jazz. Along with Knox, Detroit will send a 2024 second-round pick (via the Washington Wizards) and the draft rights to Gabriele Procida to Utah, while the Jazz will ship out second-year player Simone Fontecchio to the Motor City.
Knox has appeared in 31 games for the struggling Pistons (6-43) this season, including 11 starts. The 6-foot-7 forward didn’t sign his contract with the Pistons until early November but has averaged 7.2 points and 2.4 rebounds in 18.1 minutes per game on 46.2 percent overall shooting since joining the franchise.
This is the third consecutive season that Knox has been traded ahead of the deadline.
After getting selected as the No. 9 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, Knox’s professional career has not gone as hoped. He showed signs of promise as a rookie with the New York Knicks, posting per-game averages of 12.8 points and 4.5 rebounds in 28.8 minutes during the 2018-19 season. However, he’s yet to hit those marks in the years since.

Knox, 24, has been a member of the Knicks, the Atlanta Hawks, the Pistons on two separate occasions, and the Portland Trail Blazers throughout his time in the NBA. Now, his path will continue in Utah with a Jazz team sitting on a 26-26 record and a shot at making the Play-In Tournament.
During his lone college season at Kentucky in 2017-18, Knox was named to the All-SEC First-Team while also winning SEC Freshman of the Year. He averaged 15.6 points and 5.4 rebounds on 44.7 percent shooting during his time in Lexington before making the leap to the professional ranks.
