Kevin Knox Sr. leaning toward his son returning, decision "coming down to the wire"

by:Jack Pilgrim04/05/18
Kevin Knox is flying home to Florida tonight to make a final decision on his future at Kentucky. All week long, we've heard back-and-forth comments relating to Knox's decision. Kevin Knox Sr. has been adamant that this decision will be final, regardless of what it ends up being. He has also said his son is strongly considering a return to Kentucky, as there are no financial needs for the family and they understand Knox is extremely young for a freshman in college. Matt Jones, however, reported a decision almost came on Monday or Tuesday, with Knox likely headed to the NBA. The Wildcat forward then pushed back the decision to think things over yet again. Depending on who you talk to, this thing is 50-50, right down the middle at this point. But if you think those at home are in his ear telling him to go pro, you're wrong. In a recent interview with LEX 18, Knox Sr. said he is leaning toward his son playing another year at Kentucky because of how much he enjoyed his time in college at Florida State.
Sitting at Rupp Arena watching his son play this season brought back some great memories. It makes Kevin's father lean towards his son becoming a sophomore. "I told him I like Kentucky.  There was nothing like playing for Florida State when I was scoring touchdowns and winning a national championship. I got that feeling this year.  I love the fan interaction.  My brother, if you want to come to Kentucky, I'm there."
According to SEC Country's Kyle Tucker, the final decision will be made in the next "24 to 36 hours," and it's close.
“Coming down to the wire,” Kevin Knox Sr. told SEC Country at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. “Probably within the next 24 to 36 hours.”
As for how the announcement will be made, Knox Sr. says there's an offer on the table for a decision on ESPN, but Knox II may end up just tweeting his decision out like he did for his high school announcement.
“We’ll sit down tonight and a little bit [Friday] and hopefully come up with a decision and be done with it,” said Knox Sr., who isn’t sure yet how the announcement will be made. “You know, Kevin has always been a private guy. I tried to get him to go on ESPN for his high school decision and he just didn’t want to do that. So he might do the same thing.”
We're right there, guys and gals...
