Kentucky‘s upset win at No. 6 Ole Miss turned heads nationally, separating itself as one of the top team performances in college football during Week 5. And top performances are led by top coaches, Mark Stoops named among the best in the profession, as well.

ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit released his top performing teams and coaches of the week on Monday with the Wildcats and those affiliated with the program ranked near the top of both lists.

In the College GameDay co-host’s eyes, Kentucky was the second-best performing team in college football while Stoops was the third-best coach roaming the sidelines.

It’s understandable how the Crimson Tide could top both lists after taking out the Georgia Bulldogs in what wrapped up as an all-time matchup of top-five competitors. Alabama players and coaches alike put on a show in the 41-34 victory on Saturday before immediately jumping to No. 1 in the country to close out the weekend.

Beyond that, it doesn’t get much better than what the Wildcats were able to accomplish in Oxford, shutting down an offense that entered the day ranked No. 1 in total yardage (670.8 YPG) and No. 1 in scoring (55.0 PPG), allowing just 353 total yards and 17 points in the win. And they did it as three-score underdogs.

Barry Odom leading UNLV to a 4-0 start and a spot in the AP Top 25 is the only thing separating Stoops from a second-place finish in the coaching category, too.

Needless to say, the Cats earned some respect this weekend.
