The winter transfer portal activity is finally almost over. We will see a few more additions after Notre Dame and Ohio State play in the national championship game next week, but most of the work everywhere else has been completed.

A former Kentucky defensive back will begin classes at UConn next week when the spring semester begins. Kobi Albert has signed with the Huskies.

The former top-500 recruit was a significant recruiting win for Kentucky in the 2022 cycle. The Wildcats flipped the Alabama native from Auburn and there was even a belief that Kobi Albert could play receiver or defensive back in the SEC. However, Albert spent just one season in Lexington before entering the transfer portal. The defensive back transferred to Mississippi State but missed the entire 2023 season with an injury. A coaching change then occurred in Starkville and Albert only played in four games.

Kobi Albert entered the transfer portal after the season on Dec. 4 and landed at UConn one month later. The defensive back will be a redshirt junior in 2025 but could have three years of eligibility remaining due to an injury taking away his 2023 season.

Only two signees from Kentucky’s 2022 high school recruiting class remain on the roster — Alex Afari Jr. and Josh Kattus.
