As expected, no Kentucky Wildcats were selected in the first round of the NBA Draft. That ends a 16-year streak for the program, but tonight, at least one Wildcat is expected to hear their name called, most likely two. Koby Brea is included in all the second-round mock drafts this morning, with Amari Williams also making all but one.

Most of the mock drafts have Brea coming off the board in the early 40s and Williams in the 50s. Bleacher Report’s Jonathan Wasserman flips the script, projecting the Brooklyn Nets to take Williams at No. 36 and the OKC Thunder to pick Brea with pick No. 44. Teaming up with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Cason Wallace, and the rest of the reigning World Champions seems like a pretty awesome scenario.

We’ll find out for sure tonight starting at 8 p.m. on ESPN. Until then, here’s a roundup of all of the latest mock drafts, which I hope this Koby Brea fan enjoys with a piece of Koby Brea birthday cake.

[Note: These mock drafts were released before the news that the Los Angeles Lakers traded the No. 55 pick and cash to the Chicago Bulls for the No. 45 pick broke.]

ESPN

Koby Brea: No. 42 – Sacramento Kings (via Chicago)

After making 50% of his 3s at Dayton in 2023-24, Brea backed up his performance with another excellent shooting season for Kentucky (2024-25). He’s a standout floor spacer and movement shooter in an era in which shooters in his mold are at a premium. What he can bring beyond his shooting will dictate how quickly he finds a role in the NBA.

Amari Williams: No. 53 – Utah Jazz

Williams might not be adept at making quick rotations as a rim protector or flipping his hips on the perimeter, but he has excellent physical tools and ranked among the best rebounders in the country in his lone season at Kentucky. Combine that with his ability as a trigger man in handoffs and his ability to play above the rim on the move and he is an interesting situational fit for some teams.

The Athletic

Koby Brea: No. 41 – Golden State Warriors (via Miami)

Brea is this class’ best shooter off the catch, having drilled 45 percent of his nearly six 3-point attempts per game over the last two years. He is a historically relevant shooter. Having said that, Brea is also not quite at the level of most other NBA skills at this point. He’ll need to work on his defensive ability to stick in the NBA.

Amari Williams: No. 55 – Los Angeles Lakers

Williams is a large human with an incredibly long wingspan at 7-6. Offensively, Williams is one of the best big man passers in the draft, with the ability to run dribble handoffs and play at the top of the key before making reads to cutters and kickouts to his teammates. Defensively, Williams is quite slow, but he uses his length on the interior well and is seen as an intriguing third center option for NBA teams with potential to develop into more.

CBS Sports

Koby Brea: No. 37 – Detroit Pistons (via Detroit)

Detroit adds another weapon to surround Cade Cunningham with in the backcourt. Brea hit 43.5% of his 3-pointers last season with Kentucky and rated in the 96th percentile on catch-and-shoot opportunities.

Bleacher Report

Amari Williams: No. 36 – Brooklyn Nets

With so many prospects returning, there is bound to be interest in a big who can initiate breaks, average 3.2 assists, finish plays and bring defensive activity. Amari Williams’ playmaking and unique skill set at the 5 should outweigh his lack of shooting.

Koby Brea: No. 44 – OKC Thunder (via Hawks)

Koby Brea joined a short list of college players 6’6″ and over to shoot 42.0 percent from three on 700 career attempts. Half carved out NBA careers or roles, including Allan Houston, Dennis Scott, Jason Kapono, Kyle Korver, Sam Hauser and Steve Novak.

Teams could see a specialist and value with Brea in the second round.
