Koby Brea named SEC Co-Player of the Week following career performance
What happens when you knock down a career-high seven 3-pointers en route to a career-high 23 points? You earn SEC Co-Player of the Week honors — just as Koby Brea has done following Kentucky‘s top-10 victory over Florida to open the conference schedule on Saturday.
Brea earned SEC Co-POTW honors alongside Tennessee standout Chaz Lanier, who went for 29 points in the Volunteers’ win over John Calipari and the Arkansas Razorbacks. He went 10-20 from the field and 5-9 from three.
The Wildcat sharpshooter went 7-9 from three, good for second-most makes ever by a UK player against Florida in series history. It was also the second-most makes against a top-10 opponent in school history.
Brea has drained at least one 3-pointer in every game this season and has hit multiple in 12 of the team’s 14 games thus far, shooting 52.3 percent from deep — good for No. 1 in college basketball.
Kentucky is the only program in the nation with three top-10 wins while the Wildcats move to a perfect 5-0 against the Gators when both teams are ranked inside the top 10. Their 106 points were second-most scored in series history and the most since 1970.

The fifth-year senior out of Washington Heights, NY averaged a team-high 18.0 points per game on 60.0 shooting in two games last week, also scoring 13 on 4-9 shooting and 2-6 from three in the blowout win vs. Brown on New Year’s Eve.
This marks the third SEC weekly honor for a Wildcat this season, Brea joining Andrew Carr and Lamont Butler — the former earning the award following Kentucky’s comeback win vs. Duke and the latter earning it after scoring a career-high 33 points in the rivalry win vs. Louisville.
Plenty more to come this season, but well-deserved for now for Brea, the greatest shooter in college basketball.
