Koby Keenum breaks down commitment to Kentucky: "It's gonna be fun."
Why did the nation’s No. 3 overall center commit to Kentucky football? Koby Keenum, a 6-foot-4, 285-pound lineman out of Florence, AL, credits the coaching staff for sealing the deal for the Wildcats down the stretch.
More specifically, it was offensive line coach Zach Yenser’s experience in the NFL and family approach that put Kentucky over the top.
“I would definitely say the coaching staff,” Keenum told Sean Williams of Rivals.com. “Coach (Zach) Yenser has been with the 49ers the past three seasons and I love the way he coaches. I talked to the offensive linemen there and they love him. It’s just more of a family aspect than football there – that’s what I like to see and that’s what I want to be a part of.
“When I started to make my pros and cons list, there were really no cons with Kentucky and that’s when I knew.”
What does Yenser like about his newest anchor on the line? His aggression at the point of attack and the way he finishes through plays.

“Coach Yenser loves my aggression,” Keenum told Rivals. “We were talking the other night about Trent Williams and how I remind him of Williams in terms of aggressiveness, the way I come off the ball, and he just loves the way I finish. It’s fun to hear that and be compared to a guy like Trent Williams.”
It’ll be a process with Keenum on campus, he says. He understands he’ll start out behind veteran lineman Eli Cox before taking over the center position by the time he graduates. From there, he’s got high expectations for Kentucky’s offensive line unit.
“It’s gonna be fun,” he said.
It’s already been a fun start with Keenum as a Wildcat, with the three-star lineman pretending to grab a Louisville hat at his commitment ceremony before putting on a blue Kentucky cap.
As the rivalry hate started to pour in, Keenum said he simply chose the best school for his football future at the end of the day.
Not a bad choice.
