Kentucky is feasting on the football recruiting trail. Saturday afternoon Koby Keenum announced his commitment to Kentucky, wisely picking the Wildcats over the Cardinals. Keenum is the third player to join Kentucky’s 2023 recruiting class this week, following RB Khalifa Keith and four-star DB Avery Stuart.

Louisville fans prematurely took a victory lap in Keenum’s recruitment, only to see the standout lineman fake out the Cardinals at his commitment ceremony. He initially reached for the UofL hat before putting on a UK cap. It would take a dozen more Lamborghinis to match the pedigree of the Big Blue Wall. The recruiting win by Zach Yenser should give the Wildcats an anchor in the middle of the powerful offensive line for years to come.

Hailing from Florence, Al., Keenum is a three-star prospect, considered the No. 67 IOL (interior offensive lineman) in the 2023 recruiting class according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. However, it’s worth noting that the recruiting companies can’t reach a consistent conclusion on Keenum. 247 projects him as an offensive tackle, while Rivals ranks Keenum is the No. 3 center in America.

Koby Keenum will be a Big Blue Wall mainstay

The center position has quietly become the most steady spot on the Kentucky football roster. From Jon Toth to Drake Jackson, Luke Fortner and now Eli Cox, Keenum can continue the outstanding tradition in the middle of UK’s offensive line. Jackson’s role in Keenum’s recruitment and development cannot be oversold.

On this week’s 11 Personnel, Adam Luckett forecasted Keenum as a multi-year starter and All-SEC performer. The high praise is warranted. Standing 6-feet 4-inches tall and weighing just shy of 300 pounds, Keenum has exceptional size and length for the position. A left tackle and defensive lineman in the high school ranks, his athleticism pops on tape. He has no trouble getting to the second level of the defense to put a hat on a defender, arguably the primary skill-set needed at the position.

Kentucky fans are celebrating today for scoring another win over Louisville. Kentucky fans will be celebrating Governor’s Cup wins for years to come thanks to consistent recruiting wins in the trenches.
