Kentucky vs. Louisville recruiting battle is brewing for Koby Keenum
In the last three meetings on the field, Kentucky has hammered Louisville by an average final score of 51-14.7 in the Governor’s Cup. In recruiting, the Wildcats have also faired better and have typically had their way with the Cardinals for in-state prospects.
Yet, Scott Satterfield’s program is seeing a resurgence as he heads into year four.
Thanks to the addition of blue-chip quarterback Pierce Clarkson, Louisville’s recruiting operation has suddenly gone from a program that couldn’t recruit at a top-40 level to one that is near a top-10 pace as the summer begins for the class of 2023. Over the month of June, programs will host prospects for official visits as they attempt to win out before announcements come before football season. Both the Cardinals and Wildcats find themselves battling for an offensive line prospect.
On Wednesday, Florence (Ala.) Mars Hill Bible School prospect Koby Keenum announced a top-five of Kentucky, Louisville, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and North Carolina. On Thursday, the 6-foot-4 offensive lineman announced that he will be taking official visits to Kentucky (June 10) and Louisville (June 17) to begin the month.
Koby Keenum is the No. 661 prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. The three-star prospect received an offer from Kentucky offensive line coach Zach Yenser on April 29 and worked quickly to schedule an official visit with the Wildcats.

Louisville is on fire recently and will get Keenum on campus during a big weekend. Blue-chip prospects Jaybron Harvey, DeAndre Moore Jr., Rueben Owens, Madden Sanker, Javin Simpkins, and Aaron Williams will be joining both Clarkson and Keenum in the Derby City that weekend. Things are going very well for Satterfield and his coaching staff on the recruiting trail.
Kentucky will hope to make a big impression on Keenum the week before as Yenser will attempt to pitch the Big Blue Wall to the three-star prospect.
