Recruiting never stops in college football, but it sure does get heated up in November with National Signing Day just over a month away. Kentucky is working to flip some prospects, but other programs are attempting to flip players off UK’s commit list.

Florence (Ala.) Mars Hill Bible School offensive lineman Koby Keenum was a huge recruiting win for assistant coach Zach Yenser as the Cats beat out Louisville and North Carolina for the mid three-star prospect in July. That seemed like a giant recruiting win as the tape showed a player with a mean streak, good fundamentals, and solid movement skills. There was a lot to like as Keenum looked like one of the best players in the haul, but both Ole Miss and Mississippi State were programs to watch as this recruitment lingered.

It seems that Mike Leach’s program has made a big move in recent weeks. On Wednesday, Keenum announced that he would be visiting Starkville for State’s home contest with Auburn on Nov. 5.

It is expected that Keenum will use his fourth official visit this weekend for the trip to Starkville. The three-star prospect could try to visit Ole Miss at any point.

Two weeks ago, Keenum spoke with Paul Jones of 247 Sports and opened up on his recruitment as Mississippi State has been attempting to close ground on Kentucky.

“Things are good with Kentucky,” said Keenum. “Their coaching staff still shows me a lot of love and I was at their game against Mississippi State.”

“Their location is good and they have a good program,” Keenum said about Mississippi State. “They also put a lot of offensive linemen in the NFL. I do have a good relationship with their staff but it’s just not as good as my relationship with Kentucky.”

However, things can change fast. Keenum has unpinned his commitment tweet as his visit with Mississippi State quickly approaches. The Cats could have to fight off the Bulldogs for the best offensive lineman currently committed in the 2023 class.

Expect a wild ride over the next month as we follow all of the twists and turns in recruiting as Kentucky looks to close strong in the class of 2023.
