The second Kroger KSR Game of the Week of the 2023 high school football season was scheduled for Friday night between No. 21 Woodford County and Simon Kenton, but severe weather conditions in Versailles, KY led to the matchup being canceled altogether. The game will not be made up.

Thunderstorms across the state of Kentucky throughout Friday night led to several delays, postponements, and even cancelations. A handful of games were delayed due to lightning but were ultimately able to finish play. Some — such as a high-profile matchup between No. 4 Frederick Douglass and No. 7 Trinity up in Louisville — have been rescheduled for Saturday afternoon.

Unfortunately, a few games were forced into cancellations, including the Kroger KSR Game of the Week, which was actually a two-game event as part of the Vallozzi Bowl. The first game of Friday was expected to be Paul Laurence Dunbar against Mercer County — that game has been rescheduled to Saturday afternoon. Woodford County vs. Simon Kenton (which features Kentucky football OL commit Aba Selm) was initially set to kick off at 9:30 p.m. EST on Friday but was delayed for over an hour before finally getting canceled.
