KSR explains why Jaland Lowe is a great fit for Mark Pope's offense at Kentucky

Jaland Lowe will be leading Mark Pope’s offense in year two at Kentucky, bringing one of the best players from the ACC to the SEC as PG1. The rising junior averaged 16.8 points, 5.5 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 1.8 steals in 35.4 minutes per contest as a sophomore at Pittsburgh, but what will he have in the tank as a Wildcat?

KSR’s Brandon Ramsey breaks down the 6-3 point guard out of Missouri City, TX — a good one with very real upside in Lexington.

“Jaland Lowe brings a different level of dynamic playmaking than anybody we saw on Kentucky’s team last season,” he said.

The shooting efficiency isn’t great and the turnovers need to come down, but there is reason to believe he can clean up those mistakes while building upon what he does better than just about anybody in college basketball suiting up in a player-friendly system at Kentucky. That’s a game-changer considering the talent Pope has put around him among guards and bigs.

That should get you plenty excited — maybe too excited, considering the offseason is just getting started — for what’s ahead in 2025-26.
