History will be made on Saturday when Kentucky travels to DKR Texas Memorial Stadium for just the second time. It’s the farthest west the Wildcats have ever played. Will they make a little more history by knocking off No. 3 Texas? It sounds crazy, so crazy that it just might happen.

Steve Sarkisian has the Longhorns on a path to play in the SEC Championship Game in Texas’ first season in the league where It Just Means More. Win out and they’re in Atlanta. Sounds easy enough, right?

Ole Miss probably thought beating Kentucky sounded easy. That was clearly not the case.

Kentucky’s only SEC win is over a CFB Playoff contender. The three previous games against CFP contenders were the best the Wildcats have played all season. They’re 3-0 ATS against Georgia, Ole Miss, and Tennessee. In each game, the Cats had the ball in the fourth quarter with a chance to take the lead.

“We haven’t had the consistency, I admit that,” Mark Stoops said on Thursday. “I don’t like that about the year, the ups and downs, I’d like to be more consistent. I’m working hard on that. Regardless of what anybody is saying about my future, I am busting my ass trying to win out and really play down the stretch.”

Which Kentucky team will we see today? For Mark Stoops’ sake, hopefully, it’s one that has plenty of fight.

Kentucky vs. Texas: How To Watch, Listen

An Eventful Road Trip to Texas

It was a fun night in Austin. There are Cats fans EVERYWHERE. It’s the most Kentucky fans I’ve ever seen at a road game. It was an incredible scene for the UK vs. Jackson State game at Lavaca Street Bar. Shout out to 11 Personnel’s No. 1 fan, Kevin Richardson. What a night.

If you ever plan on making the trip to Austin, I recommend flying. Driving through Dallas and Waco presented a few traffic obstacles, although I can now say I’ve seen the House that Scott Drew built. I’m not sure why Texas has to make its on and off-ramps so damn difficult to navigate. Their ego is so big that they have to do everything different in Texas.

There were a few headaches here and there (quite literally) but we are grateful to be here, thanks to Friends of Coal. Kentucky vs. Texas: Gambling Angles

Texas is a 20-point favorite over Kentucky with a total of 47. Both teams are 6-4 against the spread (ATS) this season. Kentucky is 3-0 ATS as a dog and Texas is 2-3 ATS as a double-digit SEC favorite. The under is 4-1-1 in Texas games since Quinn Ewers returned to the lineup and 7-3 in Kentucky games. You can find more trends, stats, and a complete breakdown of the Longhorns in Adam Luckett’s KSR+ Scouting Report.

Sark Respects Kentucky

Earlier this week, Steve Sarkisian described this game as “the biggest of the season” for the Longhorns. He doesn’t want his Texas team to look past the Wildcats to next week’s rivalry game with Texas A&M. He doubled down on that sentiment Friday afternoon.

“If you don’t look at the record, you could argue on the defensive side of the ball, this might be the most talented defense we’ve faced all year,” he told Paul Finebaum.
