Adversity does not build character, it reveals it. This week the fortitude of two SEC East teams is being put to the test. The Missouri Tigers let the biggest win of the Eli Drinkwitz era slip away in the fourth quarter against LSU. Mark Stoops’ Kentucky Wildcats went on the road and took one to the chin, surrendering 51 points to the No. 1 team in college football.

The once unbeatens can turn their despair into progress by dismantling a divisional foe. Who is prepared for the ultimate test of intangibles? We’ll find out tonight at Kroger Field when Kentucky goes for its eighth win in the last nine years over Missouri.

Kentucky vs. Missouri Gambling Angles

Kentucky is a 2.5-point favorite with a total of 50.5 at FanDuel. The Wildcats are 4-2 against the spread (ATS) this season, and Missouri is 3-3. The over is 5-1 in Missouri games and 4-2 in Kentucky games. Mark Stoops is 5-1 ATS as a field goal or less home favorite since 2019, but the underdog is 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings between these two teams.

Missouri Running Back will play vs. UK

Earlier this week, I thought it would take an act of God for Cody Schrader to play against Kentucky. That’s the way Eli Drinkwitz described the pulled quad his star running back played through against LSU and still run for 100+ yards and three touchdowns.

“I mean, remarkable — here’s no other way to say it,” Drink said with a tear in his eye. “He’ll be questionable this week at best. That is a tough injury. I would have put him in a different category but we’re talking about Cody Schrader and so I mean, if he’s breathing he’s gonna be trying to play.”

Good news for Mizzou fans: Cody Schrader is breathing. That must be why On3’s Matt Zenitz reports the Tigers’ top rusher will be playing Saturday night. Schrader is an explosive, one-cut back averaging 6.1 yards per carry this fall.

KSR+ Madness and Missouri FLASH SALE is Almost Over

We’re having a lot of fun right now over on KSBoard. This is the busiest time of the year. We call it the Crossover — the 2.5 months where football and basketball seasons overlap. We’ve never had a message board during the Crossover. It’s only just beginning and it’s already firing on all cylinders. Don’t take my word for it. Here’s what Ill Graduate Eventually shared earlier this week:

I have to be honest I was worried a lot of people wouldn’t renew after the trial period but I’m glad to see this isn’t the case. My friends aren’t as into UK sports as I am, so you all are my UK sports friends now.

Official Visitors in Lexington for the Big Weekend

It’s a big weekend for Kentucky football and basketball recruits. Mark Stoops’ program is hosting an offensive lineman on an official visit. Marc Nave spent the last six months committed to Ohio State. The Toledo native’s first recruiting trip since reopening his recruitment is to Kentucky for tonight’s game against Missouri.

John Calipari also brought a few big names to Lexington. Local stars dominated the scene: Travis Perry, Jasper Johnson, Malachi Moreno and Gabe Weis. A member of the 2024 class, Somto Cyril, made the trip, well as another potential future teammate, Billy Richmond. Zack Geoghegan has a complete rundown of the Friday night visitors.

Everything You Need to Know about Big Blue Madness

Big Blue Madness tipped off the 2023-24 Kentucky basketball season Friday night. The rumored “special guests” did not make it to Rupp, but there was one big name from the BBN. DeMarcus Cousins received a standing ovation from the crowd as the former Cat took the stage to introduce John Calipari.

The introductions brought a little more anticipation than usual, thanks to Zvonimir Ivisic. Although he did not suit up for the Wildcats during the scrimmage or dunk contest. That will have to wait until the Blue-White Game. The KSR crew breaks down everything that happened at Big Blue Madness and shares some slap-happy thoughts on a Rapid Reaction.
