KSR Predicts the 2023 Preseason All-SEC Football Teams
Next week hundreds of media members will flock to Nashville for SEC Media Days where each participating member will vote for a preseason all-conference team and predict the order of finish for the league in 2023. As Freddie Maggard will tell you, not every media member in attendance does their research. The results are far from perfect. That is why KSR is sharing our submissions before the rest of the SEC unveils their picks next Friday. Here’s who will be voted All-SEC, according to KSR’s Football Guys.

Why: It feels like there are a handful of obvious selections. Quinshon Judkins, Harold Perkins, Juice Wells, Malaki Starks and Kool-Aid McKinstry are slam dunks. What’s interesting is the debate for QB1. I bounced back and forth between Jayden Daniels and KJ Jefferson before ultimately settling on the latter, but it wouldn’t surprise me if neither were on either of the first two All-SEC postseason teams. There’s a group of six players — including Devin Leary, Conner Weigman or the UGA/Bama QBs — that could all rise up and surprise the SEC with productive 2023 seasons.

Why: In a year where there is not a clear cut top tier at quarterback, making preseason selections was somewhat difficult. I gave the edge to KJ Jefferson due to multi-year production in the SEC along with strong dual-threat numbers and a clean touchdown-interception ratio (48/10). The league has two true stars at tailback and Georgia’s offensive line is filled with Day 1 and Day 2 draft picks. Kentucky’s Deone Walker has a chance to be the conference’s best defensive linemen. Harold Perkins is the early favorite for Defensive Player of the Year honors and cornerback is very strong with a tight race for the top spots. I will never quit the “Thiccer Kicker“.
