Welp, this loss certainly stings…

On Saturday in College Station, No. 6 Kentucky was beaten in overtime by the Texas A&M Aggies, 97-92. In what was a thrilling, high-scoring affair, the Wildcats struggled on defense from start to finish, allowing Wade Taylor IV to drop 31 points and Tyrece Radford to pour in 28 more. Texas A&M hit 12 three-pointers in the win, its second-most of the season. Because of course.

Kentucky still had four double-digit scorers and got a breakout performance from sophomore center Ugonna Onyenso, but there was no slowing Texas A&M’s offense — which came into this game having scored 55 and 53 points over its last two outings. The tougher pill to swallow, though, is the fact that Kentucky failed to make a single field goal in overtime.

It’s only the third game of SEC play for Kentucky, but the defensive issues are officially a problem. The KSR crew of myself, Drew Franklin, and Jack Pilgrim sat down after the action to give our thoughts on the defense and how it can be fixed (or if it even can be). Join along for another edition of our Rapid Reaction series below as we break it all down.
