KSR's Rapid Reaction to Kentucky WBB's 79-78 win over Liberty

What. Did. Kentucky. Just. Do?!

With 9:36 to go in regulation, Kentucky held a firm 67-50 lead over Liberty, but the Flames decided to turn up the heat, giving the Cats everything they had. In the waning seconds, it was a one-point game.

Kenny Brooks and seemingly every person inside of Historic Memorial Coliseum threw their arms in the air when Liberty hit the banked in three from 35 feet out. The air was sucked out of the gym, and doom felt like it was near. However, Georgia Amoore would run out the last few seconds as she dodged and weaved through defenders trying to foul her. And like that, Kentucky had survived and advanced with a 79-78 win.

Amoore would make some history in the win, scoring 34 points and hitting six threes along the way. Both of those numbers tied program records for a single player in an NCAA Tournament game. Even in her one year at Kentucky, she’s got her name in the record books.

No matter how many fouls the officials want to call on Clara Strack and Teonni Key, the zebra stripes can’t steal Big Blue Nation’s joy today. Cats by 90 (or 1, whatever).
