Good morning, Big Blue Nation. Are you feeling any better yet? Saturday certainly sucked, with the loss to Arkansas and all of the misery around it, like Reed Sheppard’s heel turn and the first Quad 2 loss on Kentucky’s tournament resume. The Wildcats need to steal one at Ole Miss tomorrow to relieve some of the pain around losing to John Calipari in Rupp Arena.

On Sunday, Kentucky WBB brought smiles to BBN with another fun win in league play. Let’s start there in our Monday rundown to start this new week off on the right foot.

Georgia Amoore dropped 43 points in Kentucky WBB’s win at #13 Oklahoma

Georgia Amoore had an unforgettable Sunday in Norman, Oklahoma, where she tied the school record for points in a single game in Kentucky Women’s Basketball‘s win at 13th-ranked Oklahoma. Amoore scored 43 points in Kentucky’s 95-86 win over the Sooners, tying Jennifer O’Neill (2013) and Rhyne Howard (2020) in the record book. Amoore made 15 of 22 shots from the field, including seven 3-pointers, with eight assists.

Kentucky WBB is 19-2 (8-1) in Kenny Brooks’ first season

With the ranked road win, the Wildcats moved to 19-2 and 8-1 in 2024-25, an incredible start to the Kenny Brooks era. They have the week off before traveling to Ole Miss next Monday for a game on ESPN2.

Andrew Carr and Otega Oweh preview the Ole Miss trip

Later today, Andrew Carr and Otega Oweh will answer for Kentucky’s loss to Arkansas in Kentucky’s Monday interview session on campus. Carr and Oweh will also look ahead to the trip to Ole Miss and field any other questions from the media. KSR will attend the Q&A to ask questions and then relay those conversations back to you, the fans, here on KentuckySportsRadio.com.

Mark Pope’s show delayed until Wednesday for travel

Due to the team’s travel on Monday evening, Mark Pope will not host his weekly call-in radio show until the Wildcats are back from Oxford, Mississippi. It is the standard practice for the coach’s show when the team plays a Tuesday away game, so we will hear from Pope and host Tom Leach on Wednesday.

Kentucky’s slide in the Top 25

Kentucky will undoubtedly see a fall from No. 12 in the AP Top 25 poll later today. However, the Wildcats weren’t the only ranked team to lose on Saturday. Also suffering losses were the 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th, 9th, 11th, 14th, 21st, 23rd, and 24th-ranked teams, so there will be significant changes to the new Top 25 when it is released later today.

Week 9 update to KSR’s H.S. Boys’ Basketball Top 25

The 2025 UK Healthcare/KHSAA Sweet Sixteen Boys State Basketball Tournament is getting closer and closer. While the high school regular season plays on around the Bluegrass, KSR continues to update its Top 25 each Monday. Today, the Week 9 re-ranking will be released in a couple of hours, where St. Xavier will likely hold down that spot again. Come back soon to see the entire poll.

Jasper Johnson’s return to Woodford County

UK commit Jasper Johnson returned to his old stomping grounds with Overtime Elite for a game at the new Woodford County High School in Versailles, Kentucky. Johnson and OTE played Huntington Prep (WV) on Sunday afternoon, part of a triple-header event with a star-filled crowd that included Mark Pope and fellow UK commit Malachi Moreno.

Johnson dropped 31 points in a win, earning MVP honors in the game. He told KSR he was excited to be back home and to see Pope in the audience. “It’s great,” Johnson said of Pope coming to watch him play. “I know they took a tough loss the other night. But he still comes out to support me and watch me play a game. Love Coach Pope. Can’t wait to play for him next season.”

Congrats, Josh Teater!

Congratulations to Big Blue Nation’s favorite professional golfer, Josh Teater, for securing a win on the Korn Ferry Tour. Teater won The Panama Championship over the weekend, a potential career-reviving event for the 45-year-old from the Bluegrass. He entered Sunday’s round at T-20 before his final round, 5-under 65 at Club de Golf de Panama beat the field by two strokes.

Afterward, Teater admitted that he was close to retirement before winning in Panama, his first victory since 2009. Now, he is fully exempt for the rest of the season and sitting at No. 2 on the Korn Ferry’s points list. The top 20 will earn their PGA TOUR card for 2026.
