KSR Today: Another Governor's Cup win; Men's soccer in the Sweet 16

Good morning, Big Blue Nation. We all woke up stronger today. Kentucky football won its fourth straight Governor’s Cup against the Cardinals, ending the regular season on a high note as the program now looks ahead to its postseason future. Elsewhere on campus, Kentucky volleyball won its sixth straight SEC championship while men’s soccer fights for the chance to play in the Elite Eight later today. Some rather fun times in the UK Athletics department, if I do say so.
But the highlight of the weekend was Saturday’s win at Kroger Field. It was Brad White’s defense once again that showed up for the Wildcats, holding Louisville to just 13 points and 309 yards of total offense. Behind four made field goals from kicker Matt Ruffolo and some brilliance from Will Levis, UK’s offense managed 26 points. It was the freshmen pass catchers — Dane Key, Barion Brown, Josh Kattus — who performed at the highest level, though. Chris Rodriguez Jr. made some history along the way, too.
Even in a season where it felt like nothing would fully swing in Kentucky’s favor, the ‘Cats dismantled the Cards. Water is still wet and the sky is still blue. UK and UL both finish the 2022 season with a 7-5 overall record.
Now, time to settle in with your morning coffee because the KSR crew was hard at work on Saturday to bring an endless amount of Sunday content for your consumption. Enjoy.

6 straight SEC titles for Kentucky VB
Just call it a dynasty at this point.
Kentucky volleyball needed a pair of victories this weekend to continue the program’s dominance in the Southeastern Conference. So naturally, the No. 16 Wildcats swept South Carolina in back-to-back matches on Friday and Saturday, securing a sixth consecutive SEC championship. Kentucky had to beat the Gamecocks twice in order to share the title with rival Florida. The ‘Cats and Gators have split the SEC championship three times over the last six years, with Kentucky winning the other three outright.
The Wildcats now await the decision of the NCAA selection committee before knowing their next match. Selections, including host sites, seeded teams and first-round matchups will be announced during the 2022 NCAA Volleyball Selection Special, which will air on Sunday, November 27th at 7:30 pm ET. It will be televised on ESPN2 and streamed live on the ESPN app.

If Kentucky earns a top 16 seed, which is highly possible, the Wildcats will host the opening two rounds from its region of the bracket.
