The Bye Week doesn’t mean it’s an off week. It’s just a lighter workload for the Kentucky football team. Today is a workday for the Wildcats.

The pads will be popping at the Joe Craft Football Training Facility and Mark Stoops will be speaking with the media before and after. We’ll get updates from the SEC Teleconference around lunchtime, followed by a post-practice Q&A with reporters this evening.

The head coach has broken down his fourth-down decision a ton of times already. I’m anxious to peel back some more layers from the win, learn a little more about the health of the team, and discern what really popped out to him after he spent hours watching the tape. Checking in with the Kentucky football head coach isn’t the only thing on this Hump Day’s docket. Let’s dive in.

A New Kentucky Football Commitment

The momentum from the win over No. 6 Ole Miss can officially be felt on the recruiting front. Jayden Clark announced his commitment to Kentucky on Tuesday. The three-star athlete from Ohio is the fifth offensive lineman to join the Wildcats’ 2025 recruiting class. To rebuild the Big Blue Wall, the Wildcats gotta add a significant amount of reinforcements and Eric Wolford is moving in the right direction. You’ll hear more from Clark this week on KSR+.

Diagnosing More from the Win on 11 Personnel

While the Wildcats are back to practice and moving on from the win over Ole Miss, we can enjoy it a little longer. That’s why Adam Luckett will be joining me tonight at 8 pm EST on 11 Personnel. He spent the last few days pouring over the film and shared his thoughts on KSR+. Here’s a little snippet that you can enjoy by signing up right now for 50% off during our flash sale with promo code BBN.

“Most of the Ole Miss sacks came when the defense generated quick edge pressure. Protection from the tackles is still an issue but we’re seeing Brock Vandagriff grow up fast. On third-and-long, the quarterback feels the pressure, floats left, and delivers a strike for a first down. This is a big-time throw.”

More Kentucky Basketball Practice Reports

Slowly but surely, we’re learning more and more about these Kentucky Wildcats. The latest report from practice comes from Jon Rothstein. He said Andrew Carr is the Cats’ most efficient player and that Collin Chandler was the surprise of the practice.

“The Wildcats have known commodities with Jaxson Robinson, Andrew Carr and Drexel transfer Amari Williams, but the mystery surrounding Kentucky entering 2024-25 is the type of alignment that Mark Pope uses in the Wildcat backcourt to start the season,” he said.

“There is a bevy of options at Pope’s disposal — Lamont ButlerKerr KriisaKoby BreaOtega Oweh all look like potential starters for Pope, who has a brand new team from last season. Kentucky looks like an NCAA Tournament team in 2025, but the makeup of the perimeter will be fascinating to watch from now until opening night on November 4.”

An Odd Sight at an SEC Practice

Olivier Rioux is an enormous center who is entering his first season of SEC basketball. Florida lists the Canadian at 7-foot-9. SEVEN FOOT NINE. We’ve never seen anything like that before on a basketball court. Is he that skilled? We’ll see about that, but this is the first of many fascinating visuals we’ll see during the upcoming season.

Kentucky Volleyball Home Game

After dropping four straight, the Kentucky volleyball team bounced back with a five-set win on the road against 15th-ranked Florida. The rivalry win might be exactly what Craig Skinner’s squad needs to build momentum in SEC play and you can see it manifest tonight at Historic Memorial Coliseum. The Wildcats host Oklahoma at 8 pm EST and you can catch the action on SEC Network.

Wingsday at KSBar and Grille

Tonight’s a great night for some wings. Head on over to KSBar and Grille where dine-in customers can enjoy $1 wings and 70-cent boneless on Wingsday. You can make the most of your night by participating in a little bit of trivia. The questions will start flying at 7 pm EST.

A Sweet Story from the Ole Miss Win

Sports have a way of bringing us together, even during the most challenging times. On Tuesday’s edition of Kentucky Sports Radio, we heard a story from a family who felt a connection to the Kentucky football team right when the Wildcats needed it.
