KSR Today: Blowout wins sure are fun!

Good morning, folks! This time 11 days ago, we were all sulking after a road loss to a Notre Dame team that Kentucky should have beaten. The ‘Cats were outplayed and outcoached, and it resulted in UK submitting to the adversity and allowing the Fighting Irish to impose their will. With seven consecutive cupcake wins preceding that loss, there was legitimate concern floating around the program about how good they actually are.
Oh, how quickly things can change…
Since that loss in South Bend, Kentucky has smacked two very good opponents in North Carolina and Western Kentucky by a combined total of 64 points. UK did that while having roughly two days to prepare for both teams as COVID-19 issues forced postponements of previously should opponents Ohio State and Louisville. Sahvir Wheeler became an attacking force, Oscar Tshiebwe set rebounding records, Kellan Grady found his confidence and, more importantly, his jumper. Kentucky has played as a team in sync the last two outings and looks like the team we all thought they could be heading into the season.
Watching Kentucky Basketball is finally fun again.

Wheeler signs NIL deal with Steak ‘N Shake
Another Kentucky Wildcat is getting in on the NIL food fun. Sahvir Wheeler announced today he is partnering with Steak ‘N Shake. The fast-food restaurant famous for its steakburgers has locations throughout Kentucky, but Wheeler’s deal seems to be with the franchise in Ashland.
“I am very excited to be a new member of the Steak n Shake family,” Wheeler wrote on Instagram. “I would personally like to thank Doug Knipp, Steak N Shake of Ashland, all of the BBN fans in Eastern Kentucky for the very warm welcome. My teammates and I, as well as Steak N Shake, are looking forward to your continued support.”
New MBB scholarship
Five-star junior Matas Buzelis received a scholarship from John Calipari and the Kentucky basketball program during his official visit to Lexington. A 6-foot-10 wing, Buzelis arrived on campus on Tuesday ahead of UK’s showdown against WKU last night.
The top-ten prospect in the latest On3 Consensus announced his new offer on social media Wednesday morning.

A native of Hinsdale, IL, the versatile wing prospect saw his stock explode this summer after showing off elite guard skills for someone his height. UK assistant coach Chin Coleman built a strong relationship with Buzelis during his time with Mac Irvine Fire on the EYBL circuit, with John Calipari taking over his recruitment in recent months. He’s made multiple trips to see the five-star wing at Brewster Academy since ramping things up in September.
Buzelis has also taken official visits to Wake Forest and Florida State, with Duke also seen as a top contender in his recruitment.

The five-star wing is considered the next ‘unicorn’ prospect, boasting terrific court vision, playmaking and scoring abilities with the frame of a long forward. While he’s thin and will need to add weight — he’s currently just 175 pounds — he’s got the length to defend out on the perimeter and in the frontcourt. Buzelis currently projects as a future top-ten draft selection.
Last chance to win signed UK memorbilia
The next couple of hours will be your final chance at taking home signed pictures of Kentucky Football players. At 11:30 a.m. EST, the auction for KSR Photographer Dr. Michael Huang’s four-piece canvas art print set will officially close.
Measuring a total of 3×4 feet, the installation includes a 24×36 inch canvas print signed by Wan’Dale Robinson of his incredible TD vs Florida, an 11×20 canvas print signed by Will Levis featuring L’s down vs Louisville, an 11×20 canvas print signed by Josh Paschal picturing him pressuring the LSU quarterback in the decisive victory, and a 14×24 canvas print signed by Chris Rodriquez featuring a TD celebration vs Missouri.

The latest bid was made at $1,125.00. All of the money gained through these pieces will be donated to Western Kentucky Tornado Relief. You can bid on the pieces through the link here.
