KSR Today: 'Cats on campus, NFL Draft recap, and rubber match at KPP

Good morning, folks! We’re going to start today’s morning post by talking about the incoming transfers visiting UK this weekend. A quartet of men’s basketball commits — Denzel Aberdeen, Jaland Lowe, Mouhamed Dioubate, and Kam Williams — all arrived in Lexington on Saturday for their official visits.
We don’t have the uniform pictures just yet (keep the shovels away from the photoshoot, please), but Lowe, Dioubate, and Williams all posted pictures to Instagram from the practice gym inside the Joe Craft Center. Jayden Quaintance is the only committed transfer who didn’t make the trip, but don’t fret, BBN, the big man is using the time to recover from his ACL injury. He’s been on campus before. He’ll arrive for good later this summer with the rest of his teammates.

‘Cats in the NFL Draft recap
The 2025 NFL Draft is officially in the books. A pair of former Kentucky Wildcats heard their names called throughout the three-day, seven-round draft — and both area headed to Buffalo. DB Maxwell Hairston (Rd. 1, Pick 30) and DL Deone Walker (Rd. 4, Pick 109) will join forces with RB Ray Davis on the Bills. It’s time to invest in some Buffalo merchandise this offseason.
A handful of ‘Cats were signed to undrafted deals immediately after the draft ended. DB Zion Childress is headed to the Dallas Cowboys, LB Jamon Dumas-Johnson to the Green Bay Packers, OL Eli Cox to the Houston Texans, and OL Marques Cox to the Denver Broncos.
In some unfortunate news as it relates to next season’s Kentucky team, WR Tru Edwards (who transferred to UK in the offseason from LA Tech but was waiting on eligibility approval from the NCAA) inked an undrafted deal with the Los Angeles Rams.
But wait, there’s more! And this is the weirdest bit of news you’ll hear all day. One of Mark Pope‘s former players — yes, a basketball player — was picked late in the NFL Draft. That would be BYU alum Caleb Lohner, who was selected with the 241st overall pick in the Broncos as a tight end. Lohner began his college basketball career under Pope with the Cougars during the 2020-21 season. He spent the 2024 season playing football at Utah, which was apparently more than enough time to develop himself into a draft pick.
Sunday rubber match at KPP
Bad weather earlier in the week postponed what was supposed to be the series opener on Friday, but on the bright side, we were instead treated to back-to-back Kentucky baseball games on a beautiful Saturday in Lexington. The Bat ‘Cats have been hosting South Carolina at Kentucky Proud Park this weekend, having split Saturday’s doubleheader. UK picked up a 7-3 win in Game 1 before falling 5-4 in Game 2.
A series-deciding Game 3 is on deck for this afternoon. First pitch against the Gamecocks is set for 1:00 p.m. ET on the SEC Network+. Kentucky needs this win to boost its NCAA Tournament resume. South Carolina is the second-worst team in the SEC.

ANOTHER Sunday rubber match
And this one is happening right across the street from the one we just talked about. Kentucky softball will look to win the series against Mississippi State this afternoon at John Cropp Stadium. The Wildcats were trounced in the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader, 12-2, but responded well in Game 2 with a 14-8 victory to celebrate Senior Day.
Today’s rubber match will also begin at 1:00 p.m. ET.
Your daily NBA Playoffs update
Yesterday, Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro, and the Miami Heat embarrassingly dropped Game 3 at home to the Cleveland Cavaliers, 124-87. Adebayo posted 22 points and nine rebounds while Herro struggled to score with just 13 points on 5-13 shooting. Miami is now down 3-0 in the series and faces elimination.
Elsewhere, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has his best game of the series yet in a 117-115 win for the Oklahoma City Thunder over the Memphis Grizzlies. SGA went for 38 points, six assists, and five rebounds on 13-24 shooting. OKC swept Memphis in the process and will advance to the second round.
Also in the Western Conference, Aaron Gordon’s tip-dunk at the literal last second allowed the Denver Nuggets to even the series 2-2 against the Los Angeles Clippers. Jamal Murray finished with 13 points (5-17 FG), seven rebounds, and seven assists for the Nuggets.
