KSR Today: A Bad Day to be a Jello Shot
A Jello Shot is a unique addition to college campus alcoholic beverage consumption. The colorful colloid takes an average 20th century treat and makes it taste worse by adding cheap booze. Even though they aren’t great, they’re fun, fast and inexpensive. One Omaha bar has turned the novelty into a money-printing machine.
Rocco’s Pizza & Cantina is located next door to Charles Schwab Stadium, the home of the College World Series. What started as a fun challenge between the eight teams in Omaha has transformed into an extreme competition that has set the internet on fire. The updates to Rocco’s Jello Shot leaderboard have reached a new high, thanks to the fine folks from LSU.
Todd Graves, an LSU alumnus and the founder of Raising Cane’s, bought 6,000 $5 Jello Shots to shatter the World Record and give the Bayou Bengals the No. 1 spot in the all-time College World Series competition.
No matter how good or bad they may taste, it would be a blast to be a part of that momentous occasion. Rocco’s deserves a Laurel and Hardy handshake for turning a Jello Shot into Omaha’s most desired, and profitable, delicacy.

The Reds May Never Lose Again
Joey Votto turned back the clock during his first appearance in a Cincinnati Reds uniform in 10 months. In his second at-bat he slugged a home run, and that was just the beginning. Trailing by one in the sixth with runners on first and second, Votto knocked a single straight to centerfield to drive in the go-ahead runs.
The Rockies stranded a pair of runners in the top of the ninth, giving Cincinnati a 5-4 win, their ninth straight. This baseball hater now loves the game, thanks to the most entertaining team in the MLB. I don’t know what’s happening with the Redlegs, but it’s must-watch summer entertainment.
Kentucky Football Adds a Commitment
It was a chaotic stretch for the Kentucky football coaching staff. The Wildcats hosted two dozen official visitors rolling over two weeks in the middle of the summer. Following the final weekend Kentucky added to the offensive line, and there may be more to come in the near future.
Jadon Lafontant is a 6-foot-4, 315-pound three-star interior offensive lineman from Connecticut. He considered Pitt, Boston College, Duke and Vanderbilt, but after officially visiting Kentucky he had seen enough. Even though he’s a brick-house in the trenches, the high school wrestler moves well on his feet. The third interior offensive lineman to join Kentucky’s 2024 recruiting class has the tools to play any of the inside positions at the next level.

Kentucky in Contention for 5-Star Prospect
The recruitment of Cam Coleman is one of the most closely-followed by our friends at On3’s National HQ, and for a good reason. He is the No. 10 player and third-ranked wide receiver in the On3 Industry Ranking. He played for powerhouse program Phenix City-Central, a place the Wildcats have recruited often. Even though most of the talk in his recruitment is around Auburn, A&M, LSU and Bama, Kentucky is quietly lurking, cracking his list of finalists. The stars would have to align perfectly to make it happen, but I’m telling you there’s a chance.
Early Kentucky Football Departure
In a surprising twist, one Wildcat is leaving the program before beginning practice with the team. KSR learned freshman tight end Jakob Dixon is leaving the team after the PRP product spent only a couple weeks on campus for summer workouts. One of three tight ends in the Wildcats’ 2023 recruiting class, KSR wishes the homegrown talent the best of luck on his future endeavors.
Phil Hoskins in the house
It’s funny how fate works sometimes. Phil Hoskins was a late cut from the Carolina Panthers practice squad. The former Kentucky defensive lineman kept his head up and found a new home in Kansas City, just in time for a run to the Super Bowl. After visiting the White House, he brought his new hardware back to his Old Kentucky Home.
BIG-Time Guest Alert on 11 Personnel
Following such an exciting Kentucky football recruiting weekend, we couldn’t wait for long to get back on the microphones. That’s why today at Noon Adam Luckett and I will be joined by one of our favorite Wildcats.
