KSR Today: Finally, SEC Tournament Week is here

Finally, SEC Tournament Week is here. In just over two days, the best conference in college basketball will begin its postseason tournament with four games on Wednesday, marking the beginning of the new era of the SEC’s 16-team format in Nashville. Kentucky earned the No. 6 seed by beating Mizzou over the weekend, so the Cats will start their journey in the late Thursday game at Bridgestone Arena, playing either Georgia or Oklahoma in the second round.

Before KSR and much of the Big Blue Nation heads to the Music City, we have several other matters to discuss on this first Monday of the postseason. Let’s start with new NCAA projections.
Joey Brackets now has Kentucky in Milwaukee and Arkansas in Lexington
Joe Lunardi’s latest Bracketology dropped late last night over at ESPN.com. In it, he has Kentucky as the No. 3 seed in the South Region, playing Troy in an opening round game in Milwaukee, with Auburn as the South’s top seed.

On the other side of the bracket, Lunardi chose violence by slotting John Calipari and Arkansas in a first-round game against Kansas in Rupp Arena.

Kentucky WBB is a No. 3 seed in ESPN’s Women’s Bracketology
Kentucky WBB also has a No. 3 seed projection in ESPN’s Women’s Bracketology, hosting the first two rounds in Lexington. If the Cats escape the first weekend, No. 2 UConn and No. 1 Texas are the teams to beat to get out of Birmingham and into the Final Four.

The NCAA Women’s Tournament bracket will be announced on Sunday.
Sights and sounds from KSR’s Road Trip to Mizzou
Over on KSR’s YouTube channel, Steven Peake and the basketball crew have a new road trip video from Kentucky’s win in the regular-season finale in Columbia on Saturday. Enjoy.
