KSR Today: Happy Halloween, L's Down and More

Good morning, everyone, especially you Louisville fans, because you need a good morning more than others today. Last night, Louisville Basketball gave its fan base a night of horror before Halloween by losing to Kentucky Wesleyan in a preseason exhibition game, 71-68, at the KFC Yum! Center. Considering Wesleyan was picked eighth in Division II’s Great Midwest Athletic Conference, it was a shocking result, even by Louisville’s new embarrassing standards.
KSR’s famous Kentucky Wesleyan alum, Ryan Lemond, enjoyed his Monday night victory lap online.
Conversations with Orlando Antigua and Liam Coen
Before you slip into that sexy Travis Kelce/Taylor Swift costume later tonight, there will be two press conferences on campus you might find interesting.
First, expect Kentucky Basketball updates around lunchtime when assistant coach Orlando Antigua holds a press conference to preview Kentucky’s second preseason exhibition game against Kentucky State. That game tips off Thursday at 7 p.m.
Then, Liam Coen will hold his weekly press conference after Tuesday’s Kentucky Football practice across campus. Players from Coen’s offense will be available to answer questions after Tuesday’s practice, too.
You can find a rundown of all of those conversations here on KSR later today.
Monday with Mark
On Monday, Mark Stoops took accountability for Kentucky’s loss to Tennessee and previewed what is ahead in the trip to Starkville.
“Another big challenge here this week, going on the road, playing Mississippi State,” Stoops said in his opening remarks. “Traditionally, we have had a tough time down there, so we have to get that fixed and have great preparation this week and go on the road and get an SEC victory. It’s tough to do.”
He also admitted to filing a complaint with the SEC, said he was proud of the fight and preparation to play the Vols, and wasn’t too critical of his defense, surprisingly.

A new KSR Football Podcast is available
Last night, a new KSR Football Podcast closed the book on Kentucky’s loss to Tennessee with complaints and reactions from the weekend. We previewed the remaining four games on the schedule, too, plus bonus coverage of the Louisville-Kentucky Wesleyan game as it ended.
Kentucky-Alabama game time announced
The Southeastern Conference released its full schedule for the SEC games on Saturday, November 11, and your University of Kentucky Wildcats drew the noon time slot for the home finale against Alabama. As announced yesterday, the Wildcats will host Bama on ESPN at 12 p.m. ET in 11 days.
UK Soccer on Halloween
Both UK Men’s and Women’s Soccer are in action today, reminding me of the old ‘Kick Or Treat’ soccer invitational I used to play in as a kid in Madisonville. The field had a pumpkin painted on it. Great times.
Anyway, today UK’s women’s team is in Pensacola, Florida, to play Georgia in the quarterfinal round of the SEC Tournament. Georgia beat Kentucky two weeks ago in Athens, but the Cats get a shot at revenge in today’s elimination match. You can watch here beginning at 1:00. The Wildcats beat LSU in the first round on Sunday.
Then, at 5:00 p.m., the men’s team plays at Georgia Southern in the regular season finale.
