Good morning, friends, and welcome to what it must be like to live at the North Pole. If you haven’t looked outside your window this morning, the beautiful Bluegrass landscape has transformed into a frozen tundra. The temperature in Danville when I woke up was -5 with a windchill of -25. There’s snow on the ground, but it’s hard to tell how much because it keeps swirling around. With temperatures not expected to get above freezing until Monday or Tuesday, we’ll have a White Christmas, but it’s going to be a brutally cold one.

All this time inside means more time to read about Kentucky sports! Here’s what’s happening today.

CJ Fredrick and Blair Green got engaged last night

Let’s start with some very good off-the-court news for Kentucky Basketball. CJ Fredrick and Blair Green got engaged last night. Here’s a photo of the happy couple from Kentucky Basketball’s social media account:

If you’re unfamiliar with their story, Fredrick and Green bonded last year when both were recovering from season-ending injuries. Their friendship blossomed into love, and now, they’re engaged to be married. Pretty cool stuff.

Still waiting to hear from Jamarion Wilcox

Signing Day has come and gone, with 23 prospects inking their pledges to become Kentucky Wildcats, 17 from the high school ranks, and 6 from other colleges. The Early Signing Period ends today, and there’s still a chance Kentucky can add a very important player to the mix. Three-star running back Jamarion Wilcox has yet to announce his decision. Yesterday during an appearance on Kentucky Sports Radio, Mark Stoops dropped quite a few references to Wilcox, a “big-time guy out there that’s a lightning bolt.”

“I love the way we closed. I really felt like, obviously with the addition of transfers, but at the high school level, the way we closed was about as good as we can. We have one more big-time guy out there that’s a lightning bolt that can go. He’s a playmaker, an offensive playmaker that I believe we still have a good chance to still get in the boat and that would really be a home run for us.”

Wilcox can either announce today or wait until National Signing Day on Feb. 1. Obviously, if it’s Kentucky, we’d prefer the former. We’ll have our ears to the very cold ground to bring you all the latest.

Listen to Mark Stoops on KSR

Stoops discussed a plethora of other topics during his 20-minute conversation with the guys yesterday ranging from Signing Day, transfers Devin Leary and Ray Davis, the Music City Bowl, and NIL. If you missed it live, check it out below.

Kenneth Horsey still undecided on next year

During his appearance on KSR, Stoops mentioned the possibility of moving Kenneth Horsey back inside to guard now that the Cats have added tackles Marques Cox and Tanner Bowles from the transfer portal. In the afternoon, Horsey took to Twitter to tell his followers he has not decided whether or not he’ll come back for a super-senior season or take his talents to the NFL.

Missouri beats No. 16 Illinois; Louisville lost again

The Kentucky Basketball team has a few days off for Christmas, but their next two opponents were both in action last night. Missouri beat No. 16 Illinois 93-71 in St. Louis, led by senior guard Kobe Brown’s 31 points and 8 assists. The Tigers are now 11-1 on the season, their only loss coming vs. Kansas. Kentucky won’t have to wait long for its next big test, which happens next Wednesday night in CoMo.

The night wasn’t as kind to the Louisville Cardinals. Kenny Payne’s squad dropped its second straight game last night, losing to NC State 76-64. The Cards will bring their 2-11 record to Rupp Arena a week from tomorrow.

Help Will Levis find the “Levisville” sign

One of the highlights of this season’s Cat Walks at Kroger Field was an I-64 interstate sign for “Levisville,” a nice take on how Will Levis has owned the Louisville Cardinals. Last night, Levis asked the owners of the sign to reach out to him on social media, sharing an adorable picture of his grandmothers flashing their Ls down in front of it.

Two bowls today

We’ve got two bowl games to watch while we’re stuck inside, one featuring an SEC team. At 3 p.m., Louisiana plays Houston in the Independence Bowl, followed by Wake Forest vs. Missouri in the Gasparilla Bowl. Both games will air on ESPN.

KSR the website never stops, but KSR the radio show gets the morning off as iHeart recognizes Christmas Eve. If you still need a fix, tune in to see which “Best of” Show the guys picked, or catch up on old podcasts.
