Tuesdays during January and February are usually reserved for Kentucky Basketball. This week, the Cats are playing on a Wednesday instead, throwing my entire routine off. What is a Tuesday morning if I can’t tell you how to watch or listen to the Cats and the latest odds??

Alas, this just gives us an extra day to prepare for the Vanderbilt game, which is now a must-win after Saturday’s loss at Texas. Let’s get to it.

Mark Pope shared the latest on Lamont Butler and Jaxson Robinson

When will Lamont Butler (shoulder) and Jaxson Robinson (wrist) return to the court? Last night, Mark Pope shared updates on both on his call-in show. Butler seems the closer of the two to a return, with Pope joking that he’s encouraging Robinson to learn to shoot left-handed so he can play with his right wrist in a big cast.

“For Lamont, he’s actually moving pretty well. He still hasn’t practiced with live play, but for him, it’s just a matter of how far along does he have to get where he could actually take a hit in the game? That’s the biggest question for him. That’s going to be a little bit of a guessing game. We’ll try and get him some live stuff in practice over the next week or so.

“For Jax, he still hasn’t done anything with his right hand. He’s done a ton of left-handed shooting and probably unsurprisingly, he’s making a lot of shots left-handed. So I am actually pushing him to just tie up the right wrist, just get that thing safe in a big cast, and let’s go just play lefty on Wednesday. I’m not sure he’s prepared to do that.”

I doubt we’ll see either Butler or Robinson on Wednesday night vs. Vanderbilt but we’ll get an official update when the initial SEC Availability Report drops tonight. For what it’s worth, Dick Vitale, who is calling Saturday’s game at Alabama alongside Jimmy Dykes and Karl Ravech, said yesterday that Pope told him he’s not sure when either player will be back on the court.

In other injury news, Pope said Kerr Kriisa (foot) can qualify for a medical redshirt, putting that possibility on the table. The fifth-year senior continues to work his way back from foot surgery, a process that Pope admitted has been “probably a little bit slower than any of us would like.”

Andrew Carr and Travis Perry preview Vanderbilt

Today, we’ll hear from two Wildcats about tomorrow night’s rematch. Graduate forward Andrew Carr, who did not play in the first meeting due to his back issues, and freshman guard Travis Perry, who made his first career start at Texas, will meet with reporters around lunchtime. We’ll have a full recap of their remarks on the site and a replay of that conversation on the KSR YouTube Channel.

Speaking of the KSR YouTube Channel, that’s where you can find the latest episode of Sources Say, in which Jack and Shawn break down the Cats’ collapse at Texas and talk about how they can get back on track.

Bring donations for Kentucky Flood Relief to the Vandy game

The death toll from this weekend’s flooding is now 12. Cleanup is underway across the state from Saturday’s torrential rains, which devastated many areas that had just rebuilt from the flooding in 2022. UK Athletics has a way for you to help. Physical donations will be accepted on the High Street side of Rupp Arena prior to tomorrow night’s game vs. Vanderbilt. You can also give at the Gatton Student Center and UK Chandler Hospital. Needed items include non-perishable foods, cleaning supplies, bottled water, and paper goods.

On his call-in show, Mark Pope said he spent part of his Monday being briefed on the recovery efforts and called on BBN to “show out” by donating items, which will be collected in a large semi-truck outside Rupp.

“When you come to the game, on your way out the door, reach into your pantry and bring what you’ve got,” he said. “I would love for us all to fill up this truck on Wednesday night.”

Jarett Lewis, the father of Kentucky signee Acaden Lewis, tweeted that his son would like to donate some of his gear to the cause.

If you’d rather donate financially, you can do so through Governor Beshear’s Team Kentucky Storm Relief Fund. The fund is fully transparent and every dollar goes to Kentuckians in need.

ICYMI, Kentucky Baseball’s home opener was postponed

Mother Nature won’t give up. An arctic blast followed this weekend’s rains to the Bluegrass and another round of snow is on the way. In turn, Kentucky Baseball postponed its home opener vs. Morehead State, originally scheduled for this afternoon, to next week.

The No. 23 Bat Cats started the season with a win and a loss at Lipscomb. This weekend, they’ll be back in Nashville for a three-game series vs. Belmont. Tuesday’s game against Evansville is the new home opener at Kentucky Proud Park. The game vs. Morehead State will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 26.

More snow on the way

Don’t look now, but more snow is on the way. Another system will bring anywhere from 1″ to 8″ of snow across the state, the most in the Western and Eastern regions, through Thursday. The snow will be accompanied by bitterly cold temperatures, meaning whatever falls to the ground will be here for a while. Joy.

Two big high school hoops moments

How about a buzzer-beater to start your day? Shoutout to John Palumbo, who hit this shot in overtime to give Sayre the 57-54 win over Henry Clay. As you can tell, his parents were elated.

Keep the good vibes going with this clip of a sweet moment in the 4th Region, where Maddie Smith got the start for Clinton County and nailed her first shot to everyone’s delight.

College Basketball on TV tonight

Three SEC games tonight, including No. 7 Texas A&M vs. No. 21 Mississippi State. The Aggies were a No. 2 seed in the Selection Committee’s top 16 reveal on Saturday and are tied with Florida for third in the SEC standings behind Auburn and Alabama.
