We are very much on Matt Ponatoski watch on this corner of the internet but the good times have not stopped yet for the Kentucky football program on the recruiting trail. The Cats played add-on to the 2026 class for fourth time in seven days on Friday when Tyreek Jemison picked UK over Georgia Tech, NC State, North Carolina, and Ole Miss.

Offensive line coach Eric Wolford has recorded his second win of this recruiting cycle.

This gets Kentucky up to 12 commitments in the class as hot month in June has led to a much-needed summer shot in the arm for the program. But they might not be done yet this weekend. Birmingham (Ala.) Briarwood Christian defensive lineman Garrett Witherington is scheduled to make his commitment on Sunday and UK is considered a top contender.

Miss any of our coverage from Friday’s commitment? KSR Today has you covered as the Cats have landed on of their top guard prospects.

Let’s set the table for the weekend.

Kentucky adds another piece to the 2025 roster

This is very much high school recruiting time as programs do important 2026 roster-building but Kentucky was not done adding to the 2025 roster. The Wildcats took a surprise commitment on Friday afternoon that wasn’t on anyone’s radar.

Nashville (Tenn.) Lipscomb Academy linebacker Kris Thompson is a high school graduate who will enroll in school at Kentucky for the 2025-26 academic year, KSR has confirmed. That gives the Cats an extra class of 2025 addition on defense.

The three-star recruit was receiving legitimate interest the spring before his senior year before Thompson went unsigned in December. Now the Cats will add the Volunteer State native to the program as UK replaces two starters at linebacker.

Amari Williams and Koby Brea settle into new basketball homes

Mark Pope recorded the first two NCAA Tournament wins in his coaching career back in March and now he has his first two draft picks just three months later. Koby Brea (Phoenix Suns) and Amari Williams (Boston Celtics) each came off the board in the second round.

Both players are now getting settled into their new NBA homes. It certainly sounds like both basketball franchises are happy to have each Kentucky product in their organization.

Next up is NBA Summer League where both draft picks will look to secure their spot in their new organization while undrafted free agents will be looking to earn a spot on the team.

The Reds are hot

Don’t look now but 82 games are down and the Cincinnati Reds might just be contenders. The first professional baseball team is now just one win away from securing its eighth consecutive series victory outside of the NL Central.

One could say that the Reds are hot.

Nick Martinez took a no-hitter into the ninth inning before being pulled and Spencer Steer hit three home runs in a blowout 8-1 win over the San Diego Padres at Great American Ball Park on Friday. Cincinnati will look to take the series when Andrew Abbott takes the mound on Saturday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. ET/3:10 p.m. CT.

Cincinnati looks like they’ve turned the corner under Terry Francona.
