Super Bowl Sunday was bittersweet for football fans. The game was a lot of fun for anyone not wearing Kansas City red. The Eagles dominated the game from start to finish, winning 40-22 with a shockingly dominant performance by the defense, a passing game, and not a lot of Saquon Barkley. Jalen Hurts won the MVP award.

Sadly, it was the last football game until the fall, so now we turn our undivided attention to the rest of the college basketball season. Before we completely close the book, a shout-out to the former Wildcat who was on the winning side and a couple of Super Bowl ads that caught our eye on the night that Kendrick Lamar called “Game Over” on Drake.

Darrian Kinnard’s Super Bowl three-peat (in only three NFL seasons)

Former Kentucky star Darrian Kinnard won another Super Bowl ring, his third in three NFL seasons. Though he didn’t play for the Eagles last night, Kinnard won another Super Bowl with his new team, Philadelphia, after he was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022 and won two rings with the Chiefs.

Kinnard completed the three-peat that Mahomes & Co. couldn’t. What an incredible start to an NFL career for the two-time All-SEC offensive lineman.

Kentucky enlisted Randall Cobb for its new Super Bowl ad

Randall Cobb guest starred in Kentucky’s new Super Bowl commercial. Serving as the narrator for the ad, Cobb says, “New faces, new energy. We know hard work. Sweat. Blood. The deck’s stacked against us? Okay. Blue Collar is our DNA, just like the people we represent.”

UKFCU enlisted Matt Jones, Ryan Lemond, and Koby Brea for its new Super Bowl ad

What do Big Foot, Matt Jones, Ryan Lemond, and Koby Brea have in common? They’re all in UKFCU’s new Super Bowl ad that aired last night. Somehow, Eppic Films convinced Matt to wear red, throw his Ls up, and, even crazier, allow Ryan to spit water directly into his mouth.

Watch Kentucky WBB tonight on ESPN2

It’s been a while since Big Blue Nation had the pleasure of watching Kentucky Women’s Basketball. Kenny Brooks’ Wildcats had a week plus Super Bowl Sunday off since winning at 13th-ranked Oklahoma. Tonight, Kentucky WBB returns to action at Ole Miss in a nationally televised game on ESPN2. The game tips off at 7 p.m. in the Pavilion in Oxford.

Kentucky can tie its best 22-game start in school history with a win.

Mark Pope’s Monday radio show will lead into the game

Before Kentucky WBB tries to secure a winning road record for the first time since 2018-19, Mark Pope can be heard on the same radio network as the lead-in to the game. Pope’s weekly call-in show will air in its usual time slot from 6-7 p.m. on the UK Sports Network. He will take questions from the listening audience about the South Carolina win and the challenge ahead in hosting the Vols, before the women’s team tips off at 7 p.m. with Darren Headrick on the radio call.

We’ll hear from Lamont Butler and Trent Noah

A couple of the men’s Wildcats, Lamont Butler and Trent Noah, will speak on behalf of their team on Monday before hosting Tennessee in Rupp Arena tomorrow night. Butler and Noah will take questions about playing the Vols again, the win over South Carolina last Saturday, and Butler’s long-awaited return to the starting five.

KSR will be among those asking questions to Butler and Noah. Check back here after your lunch break to read all they had to say and watch the replay of the conversation.

Get to know Andrew Carr in KSR’s new feature story

Andrew Carr is the next in line for Mrs. Tyler Thompson’s lengthy feature story series. Today, she published nearly 10,000 words about Carr’s journey to Kentucky, from his upbringing to his recent back injury that sidelined him in the middle of the current season.

Carve out some time on your Monday to give it a read. The accompanying photos are must-see, too.

Kentucky likely to drop in the new AP Top 25

Kentucky will see another dip in its Top 25 standing today once the AP poll releases its new update to reflect last week’s results, which included the Wildcats’ loss at Ole Miss. However, the drop shouldn’t be significant because several other top-25 teams lost games that were worse than Kentucky losing on the road to a ranked team (Ole Miss). My guess is a one-spot drop to fifteenth.

Week 10 update to KSR’s H.S. Boys’ Basketball Top 25

We’re one week closer to the 2025 UK Healthcare/KHSAA Sweet Sixteen Boys State Basketball Tournament since the last time we spoke about it. Today, like every Monday, KSR continues to update its Top 25, with a new poll coming soon for Week 10 of the season. Check back here in a couple of hours to see if St. Xavier is still No. 1 with the postseason right around the corner.

Worst case scenario in Dallas: Anthony Davis sidelined with an injury

Jerome Miron-Imagn Images

The Dallas/Los Angeles trade looks even worse after news broke yesterday that Anthony Davis, our Anthony Davis, will miss extended time with an injury suffered in his debut game with the Mavs. Davis had 26 points, 16 rebounds, seven assists, and three blocks in his first game with Dallas but left in the second half with what is now reported as a left adductor strain, potentially keeping him out for more than a month.

We hate the news for AD and hope he returns quickly. However, the bigger angle to this is that Mavs fans may riot because Davis’ durability was questioned when the trade was made.

Where to find KSR this week

KSR won’t leave Lexington this week, with four shows at KSBar and Grille and a Friday remote broadcast at the Lexington Police Department. Friday’s show is closed to the public, but you can find the crew at KSBar and Grille beginning today at 10 a.m. Tomorrow’s pregame show will also be at KSBar before Kentucky hosts Tennessee in Rupp Arena. Go Cats.
